ABOUT
Shamyia Atkins is a dedicated public servant with a career rooted in justice, service, and empowerment. Currently serving as a Sergeant in Corrections, , Shamyia brings over a decade of frontline experience in public safety, accountability, and leadership. Shamyia understands the importance of structure, discipline, and leadership—lessons gained firsthand from working with individuals navigating the justice system.
A proud graduate of Faulkner University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Shamyia Atkins is furthering her commitment to justice by pursuing a law degree at Birmingham School of Law, equipping her with the legal expertise to advocate for fair, effective policy that truly serves the people.
In addition to public service, Shamyia is a school administrator for the Atkins Real Estate School, helping families and individuals build stability and generational wealth through homeownership. Whether guiding someone through their first home purchase or advocating for safer, stronger communities, she approaches every endeavor with integrity and heart.
Shamyia journey reflects a commitment to excellence, leadership, and a passion for community which will complement her service to District 57th as State Representative.

EDUCATION
Education is the building block for success and I am committed to ensure that students and workers across our district have access to real-world skills, hands-on training, and meaningful career pathways through expanded vocational and technical education programs. Not every great career starts with a four-year degree — and our education system should reflect that.
WOMEN'S RIGHTS
Liberty is the foundation to our democracy, and I will will take firm action to stand up for women’s rights, safety, and equality — in the workplace, in healthcare, in education, and under the law. Women across our district deserve full access to the resources, protections, and opportunities that allow them to thrive. Equal rights are not negotiable — they are essential.
PUBLIC SAFETY
As your next State Representative, I will work to ensure that every neighborhood — no matter the ZIP code — is a safe place to live, work, and raise a family. True public safety means not only strong law enforcement, but also investing in the root causes of crime, supporting first responders, and building trust between communities and police.
